Second French-South American Cooperation Scientific Seminar in STICs

October 18th. 19th. and 20th, Santiago de Chile

This meeting was held in Santiago de Chile during October 18th. 19th. and 20th. It was organized by the National Commission of Scientific and Technological Research of Chile (CONICYT), the Mathematics Modelling Centre (CMM-University of Chile – CNRS Mixed Unity) and the French Cooperation Regional Delegation for the Southern Cone and Brazil. This event was attended by 60 French and South American researchers.

On that opportunity, the Second Call of research and development Projects of the STIC South American Programme was launched. The reception of the projects will start on December 1st. 2006 until March 31st. 2007 (for more information, go to “Calls” link in this site).

This seminar turned into a prolific space for the creation and encouragement of excellence webs among scientists of France and the region, opening the opportunity to jointed projects during the next call at the end of the year.

The event presented conferences of international experts in the CTICS area such as the French Dominique Perrin, the German Rudiger Schultz or the Dutch John-Jules Meyer.
During the three-days journey, six workshops were developed, meeting scientists on the following subjects: Telecommunications, Medical images, Grid computing and High performance computing (HPC), Bioinformatics, Advanced webs and Semantic webs.

Constitutive Seminar of STIC-South America

December 2005 – Santiago de Chile

The first Scientific STIC-South America Seminar was held in Santiago de Chile from 19th. to 20th. December 2005. It was organized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of France, the Regional Delegation of French Cooperation for the Southern Corn and Brazil, the CNRS regional office, the National Commission of Scientific and Technological Research of Chile (CONICYT) and the Mathematics Modelling Centre (CMM).

This seminar was attended by scientists and representatives of state bodies of the Southern Cone countries, Brazil, Peru and France. The seminar was closed with the signature of an agreement between the mentioned countries to foster research in the Science, Information Technology and Communication field.
